A Moment at the Opthamologist

June 27, 2012

Secretary/Nurse(?) asking about my medical history:

Her: Cardiovascular problems?
Me: Nope
Her: Respiratory problems?
Me: Asthma
Her: Any ‘In-dock-reen’ problems?
Me: (thinking) what is that?? Giving my mom a quizzical look
My mom: Endocrine?
Her: No ‘In-dock-reen’
My mom: I think its endocrine
Her: Oh… I’m not a doctor so I don’t know.
My mom: Yes, she’s type 1 diabetic
Her: And that has to do with the  ’In-doc-reen’?

My mom after the appointment: Well, the good news is your eyes are good, the bad news is we’re gonna have to take you to an In-Doc-Reen-ologist, whatever they may specialize in.

Ha! You’re mom has a great sense of humor! That’s funny… you’d think someone who works in a doc’s office of any kind would know how to pronounce medical terms like that. Well, maybe she was new. Yep. Maybe that’s it. Thanks for the humor!
